March 21 is the Vernal Equinox which herallds the beginning of Spring.
While March can be a mix between winter and spring and the weather may be volatile, the bees are charging full speed ahead.
The queen is laying an enormous amount of eggs now. That brood requires a lot of honey and pollen to fully develop. The eggs being laid now will hatch out into adult bees in three weeks. The field bees are on a constant search for water and pollen; both are required to raise healthy brood( baby bees). In Florida and other subtropical regions where citrus is grown, there is usually a prolific bloom when rising temperatures in March signal the tree that it’s time. This makes a great source for the hungry bees.
